Introduction to Stormont Careers

Stormont House Careers

At Stormont House School and Sixth Form we aim to raise the aspirations of all our students while equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, skills, and attributes to achieve their full potential. It is important that students are enabled to make informed decisions about post 16 routes and the relevant pathways to support their longer-term future career plans. To enable our students to achieve we deliver an embedded programme of careers education and guidance in Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 which has been developed to deliver the SEND Gatsby Benchmarks, meet the Careers Statutory Guidance 2023 and is informed by the National Careers Strategy 2017.

We are committed to providing a well-structured Careers Education, Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) for all students in Year 7 to 12.  We strive to ensure students experience a full, varied and interesting careers journey, having the opportunity to explore their own interests, skills, and passions; understanding the wealth of jobs and education available to them once they leave school. It is integrated into our students’ experience across the whole curriculum and is based on a partnership with, students and their parents or carers.  We have a rich partnership with local businesses, colleges and providers along with a strong alumni and wider school community to support our Careers Education.

We work in partnership with Prospects Careers Service, Talentino, Hackney Careers Collaborative, the Central London Careers Hub and many other organisations that support us as a school to grow our careers programme so that it is progressive and creates opportunities for our students in the ever changing job market.

We are pleased to share we are working towards our Investor in Careers award, this accreditation provides a useful framework to enable us to develop and continually re-assess the effectiveness and suitability of our Careers and Employability Programme within the school and sixth form.
