WWI Centenary Drama

11th November 2016

On Wednesday 9 November Years 9 and 10 took  part in a drama workshop based on WWI, the actor led the students through what it was like to live through the Great War, he talked about his time in the trenches and what his daily life had been like. The students were shown the type of equipment (rifle / food/clothes) the soldiers had to contend with to exist, he informed the students how he had to dig latrines, how he dealt with trench foot and what it was like living with the dreaded rats! More information will be in next week’s issue of ‘School Matters’.

Remembrance Sunday this year falls on Sunday 13 November and is a day for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning

We will remember them."
