Welcome Back! A Message from the Headteacher

7th September 2018

Hello everybody! We’ve had a terrific start back at school, with everyone settled into their new classes and beginning to make progress from where they left off. A big welcome in particular to our new Year 7s, who seem to be managing the change to a new school very well indeed. I expect that there will be one or two teething problems along the way, but thank you to all parents and carers for making the start to term so successful. Also, Let’s not forget a very special welcome back from maternity leave to Ms Wallis!

As most of you know, we had some surprise visitors in the final week of the school year; Ofsted! We aren’t allowed to say anything about the inspection until we receive the final report, but you’ll be the first to know! Huge thanks to all students and staff who just carried on with business as usual in lessons and on sports day even though we were all suffering from end of term tiredness.

Congratulations to all of last year’s Year 11 and 12 students on their examination results and the way that they have approached the next steps in their education. We had a very high pass rate in exams ranging from Entry Level to GCSE and the fourth year of our Sixth Form also went very well indeed. Soon we’ll report to you on where our students have progressed and what type of courses they are on.

A special word of congratulations to our new Year 12 Students themselves, who already really look the part in their smart clothes, ID badges and entry passes. The Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition will take place on 26/27 September and there is an information event for Year 12 parents/carers on Monday 10th September 4.30 to 5.30pm.

Very shortly your child’s form tutors will be writing to you to introduce themselves and Year 7 parents and carers will be able to meet their child’s form tutors on Thursday 20th September 3.45 to 6pm. If you have any questions or concerns about your child, the form tutor is usually your first point of contact. The best way to get a message to them is to ring Ms Kaur on Reception on 020 8985 4245 or email info@stormonthouse.hackney.sch.uk.
