Stormont House wins the East London Panathlon for Hackney

6th February 2015

Stormont House pupils represented London Borough of Hackney in the annual Panathlon competition held this year at Britannia Leisure Centre last Thursday. Even though we had only two opportunities to coach the young people selected from Year 8 and one of those was on the morning of the competition itself, we went determined to beat our personal bests

We competed against Waltham Forest, Islington and Tower Hamlets and in the morning swept the board at New Age Kurling, Polybat, Table Top Cricket and Boccia, winning all bar Boccia, in which we finished second. However at Boccia we beat the winners 5-1 in our head to head.

After lunch we had indoor athletics, track and field, but as we didn’t have a power wheel chair to compete in two races we felt we would be out of the running to win.   Imagine our surprise when we won the track and came second in the field athletics! We were a long way in front of Islington in second place and now qualify for the next round on March 17th. Well done to all who took part.
