Stormont House Champions – Future of Fashion Competition

13th September 2019
At the end of the Summer term our Year 10 students took part in the Schools Innovation Challenge themed around ‘A Store of the Future’. The competition is aimed at tapping into the imagination of local children in east London, the competition is part of the EAST-Education initiative. The competition was ran by the London College of Fashion and Fashion District. The aim of the competition was to inspire and challenge Key Stage 2 & 3 students to consider how new technologies could change the way people shop.

Ms Higgins (DT) entered our Year 10 students into the competition, between March and June the students worked on the project to create their own concepts of a ‘store of the future’ through the use of technology. In June Ms Higgins entered the students work to be reviewed by the judging panel.

As part of the project the Year 10 students had to prepare a presentation which they would present in front of the panel and all the other shortlisted groups. Ms Higgins took the students to the Fashion District Centre in Hackney Wick on Thursday 18 July. All the students did amazingly, Monnae, Paris and Chardonnay won FIRST PRIZE for their group’s idea ‘The Laboratory’ – a perfume shop where you can get bespoke perfume based on your personal DNA! They won £1,500 to spend in DT! Sunny, Jusane, Alice, Sanjida, Bedirhan and Vijay won a prize for their top styling in the workshop task! Well done to all of Year 10!
