Ofsted News 2018/19

14th September 2018

As you know we had a full Ofsted inspection on the 17th and 18th July. Some of you may even have seen the lead Ofsted inspector on Wednesday 18th as she observed sports day! We now have the final report and it is coming to parents/carers today by ‘student post’. If you do not receive a copy of it along with this newsletter, talk to your child first to see where they have put it! the report should go ‘live’ on the Ofsted website on Wednesday 19th September.

It is our first inspection since our Sixth Form opened in September 2014; I am delighted that Ofsted recognised the high quality of the provision and how well our students continue to do after they have left as a result of their time here. There is an excellent team of staff, students and parents/carers that have to work together over a long period of time to achieve such success. We don’t always get it right, but the overwhelming majority of comments the inspectors received were extremely positive, and this speaks very highly of the strengths of relationships in our school community.

You may know that we became one of the very first outstanding schools in the country in 2005, and that this is our 4th outstanding inspection. The main thing for us to do, as always, is to keep improving; learn where things haven’t gone so well, keep building on the very many strengths. Seeing your children grow and learn is what makes my job so fulfilling; that couldn’t happen without an absolutely tremendous staff team. I think I have the best job in England. Thank you for choosing Stormont House School; here’s to the future!

Kind regards
