Jack Petchey Annual Achievement Awards Ceremony 2017

6th October 2017

On Tuesday 3 October the ‘Jack Petchey Annual Achievement Award Ceremony’ for Hackney took place at Stoke Newington Town Hall. The event was attended by students from 9 secondary schools, Hackney Community College and a selection of clubs and youth projects from across Hackney borough.

The Jack Petchey organisation supports almost 2,000 schools, colleges and youth organisations throughout London and Essex. The scheme which has been in operation for the last 15 years is a reward and recognition initiative which enables schools and youth organisations to celebrate the achievements of their young people. The presentation event is an opportunity to highlight the positive contributions being made by students across Hackney. Achievement occurs in many forms and the award ceremony is a celebration and acknowledgement of the range and diversity of the award winner’s developments.

The following students attended the ceremony from Stormont House School - Owais (Yr. 11), Tommy (Yr. 9), Summai (Yr. 12), Matthew (Yr. 10), D’yah (Yr. 9) and Thomas (Yr. 8). The awards were presented by Cllr. Soraya Adejare - The Speaker of Hackney. The evening was a great success with entertainment provided by Springfield Soul and a young singer/songwriter called Ashley Singh.  Thank you to parents /carers and family members for supporting their children at this fantastic event.
