18th December 2015

On Friday 11 December J J Jegede visited Stormont House School to undertake a whole school assembly, JJ is one of Great Britain’s leading athletes who specialises in the long jump. JJ has competed in many national and international competitions his life time best is 8.11metres.

JJ was brought up in Hackney, he finished his school career in Barking where he tried many sports, he at first wanted to be a footballer and had trials with Tottenham and Norwich whilst in his teens. It was only when JJ’s PE teacher put him into an athletics competition, competing in the long jump that JJ found a sport in which he excelled.

JJ will be working with us in the Spring term 2016, he is inspired to help the community and young people in the area in which he grew up, he does this through a charity called ‘Olympic Heroes’. Through this project JJ undertakes coaching to inspire children to participate in sport and to help them make positive decisions in their lives. In the assembly JJ showed the students how far he can jump, in his presentation he showed the picture below where he helped launch the MINI London 2012 edition by jumping three mini’s placed side by side in the shadow of Tower Bridge.
