Computing, Office and Digital Expression

Computing is taught as a subject for two lessons per week. Students are taught to create sequences and algorithms as well as use creative and office software. They are encouraged to apply their digital skills across the curriculum and they learn how to be safe online.

Students take assessments in ICT Functional Skills at Entry Level, Level 1 and if appropriate Level 2. The OCR Functional Skills awards are designed to equip learners with the skills to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life.

The course aims to ensure that each student is able to find and select information safely, develop, present and communicate information in both life and work and be confident and capable when using ICT systems and tools. They develop a wide range of useful skills and techniques using Microsoft Office, e-mail, the school Learning Platform, DTP, graphics and animation software.
