9th March 2018

On Wednesday 7 March Stormont House received a visit from Philip Glanville, elected Mayor of Hackney, Mr Glanville has been visiting schools in Hackney to discuss issues that are occurring in education. One of his priorities as Mayor is to fight the Government’s education reforms, forced academisation and cuts to funding. He met with Mr McDonnell, part of their discussion included working in partnership with LBH to develop improved pathways toward and into employment for our students once they have left Stormont House. Ms Napier together with 2 of our ex-students Jamie and Freddie took Mr Glanville on a tour of the school. On the tour they were able to inform Mr Glanville about their time at Stormont and their hopes for employment in the future. Mr Glanville fully supports the Supported Employment Service which has recently started up in Hackney Council. The team support young people with SEND into employment, our Sixth Form team are currently working with this service.
