Stormont House School - Football Championship Finalists

1st December 2017

The teams that qualified for the finals of the Panathlon Football Championships were: Haringey (Riverside School), Enfield (West Lea School), Hillingdon (Pield Heath House & Meadow High Schools), Merton (Cricket Green & Perseid Schools), Bromley (Glebe School), Lambeth (Lansdowne School), Islington (Samuel Rhodes School) and Hackney (Stormont House School).

The championship finals took place on Wednesday 29 November at Wembley Stadium Powerleague Arena, this was the first time that the competition had been played at this new venue. In the morning each team had to play 3 games to decide in which group they would play in the afternoon session. Our under 13 team won 2 and drew 1, the under 16 team achieved the same result.

The afternoon session kicked off with the Hackney team playing sides from Lambeth , Enfield and Haringey. The results from this session were ‘Won 3 / Lost 3’. This result meant that the Hackney team finished in second place overall which was a fantastic result. The winning team came from West Lea School representing Enfield, they will keep the Panathlon Championship trophy until November 2018.

The Stormont House School footballers played fantastically and showed excellent team spirit. Mr Hajdrych was very proud of their success.
