Panathlon Football Cup - Powerleague Wembley

Stormont House School took part in the Panathlon Football Cup at Powerleague Wembley in the shadows of the National stadium. The following pupils: Malachi, Lesny, Sunny, Nanak, Moses, Bobbi-May, Kevin, Charlie, Seun, Joshua, Tyson, Kane played exceptionally well in both the under 13 and under 16’s competitions.

 

The Panathlon Football Cup brought together the best eight teams from Panathlon’s London wide football programme, which gives SEN young people the chance to compete in a football competition. Football has been part of the Panathlon programme since 2008 and each year has involved over 500 young footballers.

 

The Stormont House School team were chosen to represent Hackney borough, they got to the Wembley finals via the regional qualifying tournament which took place on Wednesday 14 October at the Powerleague Centre in Newham. The regional qualifying tournaments involved 300 players from 22 London boroughs.

 

The results from the competition were as follows:

1st. Haringey (Riverside School) 2nd. Enfield (West Lea School) 3rd. Hackney (Stormont House School) 4th. Southwark (Bacon’s College & Highshore School) 5th. Waltham Forest (Whitefield Schools) 6th. Hillingdon (Pield Heath House & Meadow High Schools) 7th. Merton (Cricket Green) 8th. Bromley (Riverside, Glebe & Marjorie McClure Schools).
