In  Year 7 Spanish, students get opportunities to acquire basic vocabulary relating to colours, numbers, animals and school subjects.
Students memorise their vocabulary and manipulate the language through games and oral practise as well as regular written work. Students are encouraged to regularly use their knowledge of Spanish vocabulary to construct sentences where they justify their taste using ‘because’. In pairs, students get an opportunity to write up their own greeting dialogue and to perform it in front of their group.
Throughout the year, students are encouraged to make links between the spelling of Spanish and that of English, so their Literacy skills may be reinforced and they may get a better understanding of how languages may be related. Students are also encouraged to use their Spanish language across all subjects wherever possible.
