London Youth Games Boccia East London Open Championships 2018

16th March 2018

On Friday 9 March T’raj, James and Aesha from Stormont House joined the Hackney team competing in the Boccia tournament at UEL Sportsdock. Boccia is a game where competitors take it in turns to propel leather balls - coloured red or blue - as close as they can to a jack. At the end of each round, the referee measures the distance of the balls closest to the jack, and awards points accordingly. One point is awarded for each ball that is closer to the jack than the opponent's closest ball.

Our students competed wonderfully against very tough competition. They narrowly missed out on coming first in their group by losing to a very strong team from Greenwich. Hackney got through to the quarterfinals of the competition where they played a nail biting match against the team from Enfield, the eventual winners of the tournament. Well Done T’raj, Aesha and James.
