Art and Design

All students at Stormont House School take BTEC Level and Level 1 Art and Design.  Students can be entered for the Entry, Award or the Certificate level depending on their progress during the course; students have 3 art lessons per week.

The aim of the course is to broaden and deepen students' understanding of art, craft and design through a series of vocational style project briefs. Students will explore a variety of areas of art and design such as photography, design, 3D crafts, textiles, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Students will start with a project based on 2 and 3 Dimensions where they will research the theme of sculpture by looking at different artists and sculptural work as well as designing a room for their favourite celebrity.

Students will go on a range of educational visit during the course which will take them to some of the major galleries and exhibitions in London and elsewhere to see the work of the artists and designers they are studying in lessons.
