On Thursday 13 July everyone at school was hoping for a dry day for the annual Stormont House School Sports Day and thankfully our wishes were granted. All the students were assigned to their teams and the competition began.

The morning events included cricket matches on the downs and problem solving competitions in the hall. The winner of the cricket competition was the maroon team closely followed by the blue team. The problem solving challenge was won by the purple team in a record breaking time - Ms Driver (Purple Team Manager) stated that the win was down to the fantastic team work by her team.

The afternoon challenges pitted the team’s skills to the following challenges: Penalty Shoot Out / Basketball Shoot Out / Shot Put / Javelin / Standing Long Jump / Team Relay. The challenges were followed by races which included - Sack Race and Three Legged Race.

The final event of the afternoon was the ‘Tug of War’ the teams competed against one another to see which team showed the best teamwork and strength. The eventual winner for this event was the yellow team, Ms Matthews (Yellow Team Manager) felt her team were worthy winners.

Mr Hajdrych looked at all the results to calculate the team positions, he managed to keep everyone in suspense about the results till the school assembly on Friday afternoon. The results were as follows: 1st - Purple / 2nd - Maroon / 3rd - Blue / 4th - Green / 5th - Yellow / 6th - Red.
