Year 7

Year 7 students follow an introductory course in Food Technology. They learn to name and use FT equipment correctly as well as how to keep equipment and the FT room clean and the importance of safety and hygiene rules.

Students work on basic nutrition and healthy eating and the impact on the body of a balanced diet. Students learn about the health benefits of certain ingredients as well as where and how they are grown. Students also learn how to use a knife correctly and the importance of knife safety. They prepare a variety of fruit and vegetables and also make lolly pops and test them against ones brought from a shop.
