EU Stars Bronze Award

6th November 2015

Stormont House School has been awarded the Bronze Award from the EU Stars Sustainable Travel Accreditation and Recognition for Schools. Mrs Napier attended the ceremony at the Jeffrye Museum on Tuesday 3rd November and  accepted the award on behalf of Stormont House School.

The award was achieved by the hard work of the YTAs (Youth Travel Ambassadors) in 2014/15 - the ambassadors worked to put together a grant bid from TFL (Transport for London), they asked for a grant of £200 to enable the school to put on an active and independent travel and health awareness activity day on Friday 8 May 2015. In order to receive the grant the ambassadors had to create a pitch which was presented to a panel of EU Stars and TFL representatives - they included a video which they made entitled ‘Be Active, Be Safe and Have Fun!’.

Well done to the YTAs from last year which included, Malachi, Shane, Brett, Tekia, James, George, Kian, Raheem, Muhammad, Jamie, Liam and Edward. The election of the new YTAs for 2015/16 took place before we broke up for half term - the results will be announced next week in the whole school assembly.

Our new YTAs will start work soon to try to achieve the next

step on the ladder which will be the Silver Award. We will keep

 you informed on our progress.
